Since its publication in 1952, Charlotte's Web has become one of the true classics of children's literature as well as a perennial bestseller. The story of a resourceful spider named Charlotte who devises a wonderfully clever plan to save her friend Wilbur, a pig destined for disaster, this book is a lively and thoroughly engaging account that manages to incorporate many elements that are not the usual "stuff" of juvenalia. Totally unsentimental and filled with unexpected tenderness, wisdom...and yes, even sadness, Charlotte's story continues to enthrall children and adults alike with its grace, charm, and humor.
