Of the 197 woodcuts, seven are repeats and the last ten and their text were added by the translator, probably Jean Martin. The 5 x 5 cm. woodcuts have been attributed to Jean Cousin (probably the elder) and to Jean Goujon. Mortimer opines that at least two different artists were involved.
