Juan Benet Goitia (Madrid, 7 de octubre de 1927-5 de enero de 1993) fue un escritor español, considerado por algunos —Javier Marías entre ellos— como el más influyente de la segunda mitad del siglo XX en España. Ejerció su profesión de ingeniero de caminos y en literatura practicó diversos géneros: drama, ensayo, cuento y novela, destacando sobre todo en esta última.
