Despite the book's frankly sensational title, Meinel does not condone destructive hacking, but has produced this book for mainstream computer programmers to use as a tool to prevent unwanted entry into their systems. This does not preclude her use of the creative, informal writing style replete with personal anecdotes, in this instance, the many and varied instances of hacking experienced by the Happy Hacker group to which she belongs.
