Largely composed of translations from "Carmine burana". (First edition, London, 1884, reprinted by Mosher in 1899)
Title within ornamental border. The illustrations are from woodcuts by William Strang. "The two border designs and tail-piece are taken from the Essex house press edition (250 copies, London, 1901) of Erasmus on The praise of folie, while the two full page illustrations come in reduced form out of The doings of death, a series of twelve woodcuts, (140 copies only and blocks destroyed, London, 1901)"--Foreward, p. xiv.
Frontispiece, reproduction of the original pen and ink drawing of the author's portrait by Samuel Richards, preserved in the Art institute of Indianapolis.
"Five hundred copies ... printed on Van Gelder hand-made paper ... and the type distributed ... September ... 1917."
