El 15 de mayo de 1796 las tropas napoleónicas entran en Milán, liberándolo del dominio austriaco. El marqués del Dongo no tarda en conspirar contra el invasor, pero su mujer trata con simpatía a un joven teniente francés al que han alojado en su casa. Al cabo de unos meses nace un niño, al que llaman Fabrice. Criado en la mansión familiar del lago de Como, el muchacho alimenta un intenso fervor por la causa napoleónica, hasta tal punto que, a los diecisiete años, huye con papeles falsos, pasa mil penurias para llegar a Francia y llega en 1814 a Waterloo a tiempo de presenciar la última batalla y derrota definitiva de su héroe.

Work Description
