Wm. J. Reynolds and Co. was located at 20 Cornhill between 1847 and 1848, and at 24 Cornhill between 1849 and 1856. Cf. AAS 19th century American children's book trade directory.
Illustration on half-title signed: Devereux sc.; another is signed: S. Weekes.
Five illustrations precede title page, four of which show people reading or holding books. One includes the title: The child's gem, 1844.
