For variations between different editions of reprints of the 1777 edition of the Primer, cf. George Parker Winship's, "Notes on a reprint of the New England primer improved, for the year 1777," Cambridge, [1922], in which are described 13 editions or issues.
Includes a portrait of John Hancock, a small illustration for each letter of the alphabet, and an illustration of John Rogers, martyr.
LC copy 1 has the peculiarities of arrangement, dates, etc. ascribed by Winship to the 5th edition, first revision: "Advertisement," p. [1], dated 1844; p. [1]-[3] contain introductory matter; portrait of John Hancock on p. [4]; "A divine song of praise ... by the Rev. Dr. Watts," p. [5]; verso of p. [83] blank.
