Homer Armstrong Thompson (1906-2000) was a classical archaeologist who played a prominent role in the excavation of the Agora in Athens. He taught archeology at the University of Toronto (1933-1947) and served as Assistant Director and Curator of the Classical Collection of the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto. In 1947, he was appointed Director of the Agora excavations and became a member of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Princeton. Thompson also taught at Columbia, Princeton, and Oxford. He was married to Dorothy Burr (1900-2001), the first woman to be appointed a Fellow of the Athenian Agora excavations.
