Edition Notes
Verse in twenty-eight stanzas; first line: A merry tale I will rehearse
Probably the earliest edition of Thomas Green Fessenden's "Country lovers." Although Bristol suggests New Haven as the place of publication, the broadside was more likely printed in New Hampshire about 1795 while Fessenden was a student at Dartmouth College. Cf. Perrin, Porter Gale. The life and works of Thomas Green Fessenden, 1925, p. 33-35, 186-192
