LC copy has leaf tipped in after half title with inscription to Mrs. Joseph Pennell from Charles G. Leland, Florence, Italy, May 28, 1896. Rebound in art paper stained in part to resemble a half vellum binding; original blue paper wrappers of volume 2 bound in. Blue and white "scrap" label mounted at front of each volume with author, short title, and volume number.
