It is a stimulating adventure, both of the mind and of the spirit. It is an almost incredible tale of three men and a woman who were transported into the timeless Utopia of a Tibetan lamasery. This place - Shangri-La is the realization of all escapist dreams. Here is practiced the Greek precept of moderation, with life illimitably extended, and here men conserve the frail elegancies of civilization. - book jacket.
