Michael turned fourteen in May. By June, both his parents are dead, victims of a car crash. This means being suddenly separated from his younger brother, Brent, and uprooted, to be sent to live with relatives in St. Albert, a city hundreds of miles away. Hold fast is the story of Michael's struggle to survive in his new environment.

Work Description

After their parents are killed in a car accident, two brothers, Michael and younger brother Brent, are split up. Michael, is sent to St. Albert, to live with his abusive uncle. After one too many acts of violence, Michael and his cousin, with no money, family, nor friends to support them, run away from their Newfoundland home and must use their wits to survive in the outside world.
