Lodestar

Therapist Stephanie Scott and Judge Alice Cutter have enough problems with vicious threats to their lives because of child custody case decided in favor of a lesbian mother. Now Stephanie's ex-lover has come to her because Stephanie's replacement is being terrorized by mysterious phone calls. And Alice's son and his family have vanished into a commune named Enlightenment. Both women worry--especially about Enlightenment. A chemical compound named Lodestar, unique to the commune's land, has turned its residents into compliant robots. Commune leader Dexter Spencer sees limitless possibilities for personal and financial power in Lodestar. As does the president of Atlas Chemicals. As does a disgraced TV preacher who prepares to indulge his every fantasy on the helpless commune women. But the FBI is aware of existence of Lodestar. And special agent Billie Robinson, Alice's love, knows that the peril surrounding the family of her lover has sharply escalated: Lodestar has lethal side effects. She and Stephanie and Alice must immediately join forces to invade the communed before it becomes the next Jonestown.
