First published in 1745 as 'An easy spelling-dictionary' which formed volume 3 of the first edition of 'The circle of the sciences', but was afterwards discontinued as part of the series and became a separate publication entitled 'A spelling dictionary of the English language on a new plan' (Roscoe J71).
