This is a kit, and book set from the 'Beakman's World: Build With Beakman' series. It consists of; A book, Two card board boxes which are differently styled for each end of the intercom. The first is yellow and cheese styled with an image Lester, and the other is green with a lightening bolt and arrows design with an image of Beakman on the other side. The mini intercom boxes come pre-perforated, with the user required to only push out the design sections. There is a 25 feet long electrical cord, and two speakers. Besides the illustrations and text, the book has images of the actors and penguin puppets with speech balloons, with helpful information, or silly comments. The book tells how the reader how to build the intercom and tells how it works. There is a short list of radio terms, and ways to spell out letters, such as 'Alpha' for the letter 'A'. There is an explanation of how phones work, and how we hear, with various parts of the ear labeled.

The book is written by Luann Colombo writing as if she were Beakman, addressing the reader directly. The front cover shows one illustrator Peter Georgeson, however on the copyright page Sylvia Shapiro is also credited as illustrator, the the art being based an episode of "Beakman's World. Peter Georgeson is also credited with the design of the book. Its Electronic Production was done by Suzanne Brooker and Millie Beard. The actors seen in the photographs are Paul Zaloom as "Beakman", Mark Ritts as "Lester", and Eliza Jane Schneider as "Liza". This book is part of a series of the "Beakman's World" products, they are all based on the original newspaper feature, 'You Can with Beakman & Jax' by Jok Church.
