Madhu Trivedi is Ph.D. in History from the Aligarh Muslim University and has taught at the School of Open Learning (University of Delhi). She has authored two books (i) The Making of the Awadh Culture and (ii) ‘The Emergence of Hindustani Tradition: Music, Dance and Drama in north India, 13th to 19th centuries’. Ms. Trivedi has participated in a number of national and international seminars and has written extensively. Over 25 of her research articles have been published in journals of repute and edited volumes. These cover varied aspects of medieval north Indian art and culture, especially gender, literary culture, Awadhi Sufi tradition and performing arts. She is one of few historians to have written on history of music and performing arts based on contemporary sources. She uses Sanskrit, Persian, Urdu, Awadhi, and Braj-Bhasha sources for her study.
