Text and some illustrations are printed on heavyweight rag paper with a watermark: the initials AL interlocked vertically under a crown and the dates 1764-1914.

LC copy incomplete: plates 6, 7, 20, 29, 30, 32, 37, 39, 40, 45, 47, 56, 63, 72 and 77 wanting. Has two leaves of original etchings/engravings inscribed by the artist to Joseph Pennell laid in at front. Forms part of the personal library materials in the Joseph and Elizabeth Robins Pennell Collection.
