I would appreciate it if you could 'update' your information.
Jimmy Hakes managed the Frog Hop Ballroom until 1968, at which time Bob DeHart (former partner of Andy Granatelli in the STP Corporation) foreclosed on promissory notes which were secured by Jimmy Hakes interest in the Frog Hop Ballroom Inc. Mr. DeHart had planned to 'give' the ballroom to a bandleader friend of his who lived up North (Bob told me the man lived in Minnesota, I believe), until the man had a heart attack and could not assume control of the business. After managing the ballroom for a number of months, Mr. DeHart decided not to keep the corporation. Mr. DeHart sent out a letter of 'intent to sell' to the stockholders of the corporation in the Fall of 1969...and subsequently the controlling interest of the corporation was sold to the Hull family (father, Claudie...and sons Charles and Donald). Claudie became President of the Corporation, Donald was Vice President, Regina was Treasurer and Sally Hodge was the Secretary of the Corporation. Claudie was also the Operating Manager. After approximately two years Claudie took over full control of the Corporation and the sons left the business. Claudie, and his wife Regina, managed and operated the business until the Fall of 1979 when the ballroom closed. The corporation closed because the lease on the building ended and the economy at that time did not warrant the massive investment it would require to build a new ballroom. If you would like further information, please...let me know. Thanks.
