Declares that he has consulted a friend and intends "the essay to conclude where it stands at present - adding a section at the end of Part I and a Rider & another section to Part II", stating that the rider and section to Part I is enclosed and the other will follow in the morning. States "I am sorry to strike out 3 passages after commencement of Part II but I am advised that they will do injury to the essay, by creating enemies".
Possibly referring to the essay in "The works of Shakspere revised from the best authorities: with a memoir, and essay on his genius by Barry Cornwall", published (3 vols.) in 1843 by R. Tyas and printed by "Vizetelly Brothers & Co., Printers and Engravers Peterborough Court, 135 Fleet Street, London" Cf. British Library.
