The parties to this conference were Lieut. Gov. Dummer, with members of the Council of Massachusetts, Lieut. Gov. Wentworth, with members of the Council of New Hampshire, and Maj. Paul Mascarene, representing the lieutenant governor of Nova Scotia, on the one side; and several chiefs of the Penobscot tribe of Indians on the other. Representatives of the Norridgewock, St. Francis and Wewenock tribes were expected but did not appear.
