Fisher copy: A contemporary German (?) blind tooled goatskin (?) binding, sewn on 4 double raised tawed leather thongs, laced-in perpendicularly to the spine into wooden boards bevelled on inside edges, and partially on outside. Plain white paper endleaves. Blue textblock edges, painted. Full bound brown goatskin. Covers finished in blind with 3-line fillet forming 4 concentric panels; on upper cover the central and 3rd panels finished with a pictorial roll depicting religious scenes, 2nd panel with mitred corners; on lower cover, central panel finished with 3-line fillet forming 2 saltires, the 2nd and 4th panels filled with the same pictorial rolls as upper cover. Spine finished with 3-line fillet forming panels, containing large floral tool. Squares finished along length with 1-line fillet, and with 3-line fillet continued over from covers. Remnants of two brass and leather clasps, hinged on lower cover. Painting of four popes by Cesare Vecellio on fore-edge, which is also titled by hand.
