For some time now, major developments in highrise architecture have been primarily shaped by projects in China. But although roughly one in every three buildings that reaches a height of 100 meters or more is now built there, the highrise typology is also increasingly establishing itself in other parts of the world. European cities, for example, are pushing forward with the development of their own highrises, and more and more new towers are being built in Africa. The International Highrise Award 2020 presents 31 of the most exciting recently completed highrise projects worldwide that are distinguished by their sustainability, energy- and cost-efficiency and user-friendly design. Each of the projects is discussed and illustrated with photographs and design drawings.0The International Highrise Award is presented every two years.
