"There is little need of preface to this book on the story of Fredericton. The different chapters speak for themselves. Taken together they give a fairly full picture of the varied interests and activities of the city from the beginning to the present Centennial year. The book is not so much a history as a story. While in some of the chapters it will be found to contain creditable research work, the book, on the whole, and in the main, is intended for popular use, and with a view to appealing to the young and those who have little taste for heavier reading and dry-as-dust facts. To older ones also the book should make its appeal.
