Colour wood-engraved plates are printed in green, red and dark blue. All are unsigned and without imprint.
Most plates are the same as those used in an 1835 edition and the "Third Edition" of this title published in 1835 and 1837 by Chapman and Hall. See McLean D 0667 and McLean D 0668.
MASS copy 1: Bound in green fine vertical rib-grain cloth blocked in gold and blind; a.e. speckled red. Upper cover blocked in gold with the same illustration showing a knight on a horse, as blocked in gold on McLean D 0667 and McLean D 0668. With pale yellow glazed endpapers. With label: "E. C. Spurin, late Edlin's [...] factory & General Repository for Articles of Instruction and Amusement, Fine Ivory Work. English & Foreign Toy Warehouse, 37, [...] Street.". With later ownership inscription: "FJ" [i.e. Fianach Jardine].
MASS copy 2: Bound in blue diagonal wave-grain cloth blocked in gold and blind with a different border design than copy 1; a.e. speckled red. Upper cover blocked in gold with the same illustration showing a knight on a horse, as blocked in gold on McLean D 0667 and McLean D 0668. Upper cover includes imprint: "2/6". Spine with imprint: "Chapman & Hall". With cream painted endpapers. With ownership inscription dated 1861: "R. Amer". With ownership inscription: "D. Parikian".
