Edition Notes

Binder's title: Cumberland's plays.
167 plays of the more than 500 originally issued in Cumberland's British theatre and Minor theatre, the editions often being identical with those in the L. C. sets.
Each play has special t.-p. and paging and frontispiece by R. Cruikshank. The "Remarks" are signed D.--G. (i.e. George Daniel)
The engraved frontispieces to each volume, generally dated, are evidently often earlier than the plays, which are all undated.
Imperfect: The stranger [no. 3] in v. 34 wanting.
Mistakes in binding: Extra copy of Fitzball's The floating beacon (v. 12 [no. 5]) bound in v. 8; Simpson and co., bu JohnPoole, appears as [no. 4] in v. 12 instead of Amateurs and actors by R. B. Peake, which is bound in v. 6: title-pages of vols. XIV and XX of Cumberland's British theatre bound in v. 32, which lacks its own t.-p.
