According to Ellery Queen (literary identity of a pair of authors), in "The Misadventures of Sherlock Holmes," Jules Castier was a French soldier in World War I who took up authorship to relieve the boredom of imprisonment. He wrote a book of parodies of well-known authors' works, titled "Rather Like . . .": London, Jenkins, 1920; Philadelphia, Lippincott, 1920. Included are Chesterton, Conrad, Galsworthy, Kipling, Shaw, Stevenson, Wells, Wilde, and others. Queen's book includes a parody of Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes tales, showing a strong talent.
