Book Details
First Sentence
"This passage from Robert Burns, bard of Scotland, came to America and to me via my maternal grandfather, David Hamilton, a Kansas farmer, who was fond of reciting it (neither knowing nor caring about its exact origin; it was just a "Scottish saying") on the occasion of some slip of vanity, foolishness, or insensitivity-qualities he did not view kindly."
