Work Description
Have Cart, Will Travel is the story of a remarkable Mennonite missionary, Paulina Foote (1891-1968), working in China during the first half of the 20th century. Her commitment to God and to planting Christian churches in China involved her in three areas during her 19 years of ministry in China: Fukien, Shantung, and Kansu-Shensi provinces. During World War II, caught in the turmoil between the opposing Japanese and Chinese armies, many missionaries were put in detention camps. Paulina escaped capture, and for many months helped manage mission affairs and wrote letters on behalf of missionaries being held. Wherever she went, she found Christians willing to hide her and help her escape. In turn, she held meetings, encouraged people in their faith, and faithfully preached the gospel message.
