In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Erasmus Darwin Moore describes his correspondence with Miss Bartlett. He says she has a strange notion of propriety in criticizing him for letting his intention to marry her known before requesting an interview with her. She does not want to get acquainted with Moore now that she knows of his object. He says it would not be hard for him to stop pursuing her, as he has not ́committed [his] feelings.́
