Each volume has a volume title page, half-title, and a title page for each play; vol. 1 has a title page for the set and no half title.

Does not include the poems.

Vol. 5 volume title page lists Macbeth as the third play; it is actually the final play of the volume.

Engraved frontispiece portrait (vol. 1) lettered: B. Arlaud del., G. Duchange scul.

This is the small paper issue, with gutter margin of approximately .7 cm. There is also a large paper issue printed in 75 copies with approximate height of 25 cm and gutter margin of approximately 1.5 cm. The letterpress of the two issues is identical.

"A table of the several editions of Shakespeare's plays, collected by the editor": p. [495-503].

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) set: margins clipped in rebinding; leaves containing manuscript notes by Thomas Edwards have been inserted after each play; contains the book-plates of Benjamin Way and Thomas Jolley; editorial ms. notes on end papers of each volume.
