He is writing a speech that is "a serious, straight-forward anti-slavery arraignment of the guilt of the nation, and showing why the national visitation has come upon us." William L. Garrison advises Wendell Phillips Garrison not to overtax the lads and not to run unnecessary risks. Mrs. Helen Eliza Garrison was "greatly alarmed, the other night, when the lager beer saloon near us took fire."
