Edition Notes
Holograph, signed.
William Lloyd Garrison writes: "The intelligence that Wendell sends as to the state of your health excites our household sympathy and solicitude, though the latest word from him is more encouraging." If desired, Garrison will come to James Miller M'Kim's assistance. Garrison recommends the use of medicines even though M'Kim has little faith in them. Garrison believes: "One of the botanical helps for bleeding at the lungs is cayenne tea, which acts, I suppose, both as an astringent and a stimulant." Garrison is still troubled by rheumatism in his knee. He speaks of life after death. He expects the Villard family to return in May. A photograph of William L. Garrison showing "a spirit likeness" of Charles Sumner and two good portrait photographs have been sent to Wendell Phillips Garrison.
