Edition Notes

Holograph.

William Lloyd Garrison writes that today is the 33rd anniversary of his marriage to Helen Eliza Benson Garrison, and he reminisces about their life together. He praises Mrs. Garrison's patience and courage at length. Having been reassured by news of an improvement in Mrs. Garrison's condition, William Lloyd Garrison will stay in Europe until Oct. 26. He tells about the local reaction to the World's Anti-Slavery Conference. He praises the addresses given by Professor Edouard Laboulaye and Augustin Cochin. William L. Garrison went to Switzerland with Mr. and Mrs. George A. Blanchard, Richard Davis Webb, Fanny Garrison Villard, and Francis Jackson Garrison.
