Edition Notes

Holograph, signed with initials.

Letter written in pencil.

William Lloyd Garrison will forego "making the chimney this fall," because it would necessitate selling stocks at a loss to pay for the project. But Garrison will remunerate Charles F. McKim for the plans for the chimney. Garrison would like to have attended the women's suffrage meetings and the meetings of Free Religious Association in New York. Garrison complains of pain and stiffness in his right knee. He just heard from Fanny Garrison Villard that Henry Villard "has had a return of the noises in his head, but in other respects he is pretty well." Fanny seems to think Henry Villard was "left out in the cold" in regard to the Mortgage Bank. Yesterday, Mr. Cabot married Louisa Sewall. Abby Stephenson will be a companion for Mrs. Helen Eliza Garrison and will spend a week with the Garrisons.
