Edition Notes
Holograph, signed.
William Lloyd Garrison reminisces about his visit with Mrs. Elizabeth Pease Nichol in 1867. He hoped that she could come to the United States with Richard Davis Webb and Mary Anne Estlin. Garrison went to the Progressive Friends' meeting with Richard D. Webb and Miss Estlin, after which they visited Thomas Garrett and later on they visited Lucretia Mott. He gives Miss Estlin's travel plans. He mentions that Fanny Garrison Villard gave birth to a daughter and Ellen Garrison (Mrs. William L. Garrison Jr.) had a son. Mrs. Helen Eliza Garrison apparently suffered no ill effects from her last stroke. Francis Jackson Garrison has completed his first term at the Institute of Technology but will probably leave to go into business. William Lloyd Garrison comments: "And so, after the lapse of five years, M. D. Conway has forwarded to you the photographs of my family, which were entrusted to his care in 1863!"
