Bezalel, academy of arts and design in Jerusalem; formerly Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts; fd. 1906 along with the Bezalel Museum; nearly destroyed during WWI, it closed in 1932 upon the death of founder Boris Schatz; reopened 1935 under name "New Bezalel", separate from adjoining museum which later became Bezalel National Art Museum; designated as a national academy in 1969
