About the Book

Correspondence, case files, legal records, organization records, subject files, printed matter, and other papers relating to Kameny's work as an activist, organizer, and counselor in the gay rights movement. Reflects the politicization of the gay rights movement as its priorities shifted from education and information to social action and legal reform. Includes material relating to the cases of Donald Lee Crawford, Robert Lee Fultun, Richard L. Gayer, Leonard Matlovich, Bruce Chardon Scott, Otis Francis Tabler, Otto H. Ulrich, and Benning Wentworth. Organizations represented include East Coast Homophile Organizations, Gay Activists Alliance of Washington, D.C., Gay Rights National Lobby (U.S.), and National Gay Task Force.
