Edition Notes

Attributed to Francisco Clavera by Backer-Sommervogel, who cites four previous editions: first printed in Barcelona, 1748 and from thence Mexico City, 1750, Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 1751, and Madrid, 1764.

Backer-Sommervogel attributes the Spanish edition to Clavera but leads the reader to find an Italian edition first printed in Naples in the 1700's, written by Pietro Ansalone, under title: La religiosa illuminata con otto istruzzioni di materie concernenti il suo stato, per rinovarsi negli otto giorni degli esercizj. It is unclear whether the present Spanish edition is a translation of the Italian work, but it is clear that Clavera (d. 1788) and Ansalone (d. 1713) are different people.

"Florilegio Mariano. Novena á la Concepcion Immaculada de la Purisima Virgen Maria, con que se puede disponer la religiosa para celebrar su festividad", p. 77-82, has separate caption title.
