Design & Technology is a subject that aims to promote creative thinking and technical knowledge through a problem-solving approach to design. This book is part of the Design & Technological package for lower secondary pupils. The content is in line with the Design & Technology syllabus of the Special/Express/Normal (Academic) course. It has been specially written to meet the changing needs of users and the environment. Pupils will acquire basic knowledge covering communication through design, materials and, handling tools and machines. A Project Selection section at the end of each textbook gives examples of the projects which pupils can undertake individually or as a group. The projects enable pupils to integrate basic knowledge in design and apply it in making useful artefacts, thus further enhancing pupils' understanding of the concepts in design & technology.
