A contemporaneous critical appraisal of the Dianetics hypothesis from the first and former medical director of the Dianetics Research Foundation. Winter, a psychosomaticist, believed Dianetics ought to remain part of the toolbox of qualified therapists, following observations of patients of the HDRF suffering psychotic breaks as a result of therapy.

Book Blurb: "A Doctor's Report on Dianetics is written by the first medical man who seriously investigated the concepts and practice of Dianetics. Dr Winter is in a special position to give this report to the medical and psychiatric professions as well as to the interested public since he was the first Medical Director of The Hubbard Dianetic Research Foundation, Inc. and has been in close touch with the developments in Dianetics since the beginning.

The pro's and con's of Dianetics, as a new psychotherapy are thoroughly examined from a rigorous scientific viewpoint. Dr Winter offers a candid expression of opinion on some of the more controversial aspects of Dianetics, such as "Clear," "Prenatal engrams," and the practice of Dianetics by the layman.

In addition to an exposition of the original Dianetic theory and technique, new theory and methods are presented. A Doctor's Report on Dianetics contains the results of Dr Winter's recent research, discussion of work in progress, and suggestions for further investigative approaches.

This book will be of great interest to the various scientific groups as well as to hundreds of thousands of people all over the world who were stimulated by the original concepts of Dianetics.
