Possibly made up from sheets of the 1798 edition.

Some copies may contain an additional 'Translator's preface' numbered [1],iv-v,[1], intended to be inserted after the intiial 'Advertisement to the reader'.

At foot of p. 143: End of the first part.

With a viii-page introduction to the second part.

After p. 183 the pagination is irregular, but the register is continuous.

A second volume entitled: 'The select works of Antony Van Leeuwenhoek, .. Volume the second. Part the third.' London, printed by the Philanthropic Society, was published in 1807.

This second volume contains an index to both volumes.
