This novel, written in sonnet form is publishing phenomenon of 1986 review in the New York Times and India Today. This is the story of a group of young people within the reach of the Golden Gate Bridge in the 1980s. The protagonist John, a successful computer executive in Silicon Valley, is lonely; his loyal ex-girlfriend Janet is a sculptor and drummer in the band Liquid Sheep; Liz is an attorney from a family of wine growers whom John meets as a result of an ad placed on his behalf by Janet; Liz's brother Ed is a homosexual grappling with Catholicism. Other characters include: Phil, a former nuclear engineer; Liz's cat Charlemagne; and an iguana named Schwartzenegger. Though it portrays contemporary life in California, the novel is about the universal pursuit of love.
