"The spirit of the martyrs revived," written by Ellis Hookes, was published in London in 1683. The four Quaker martyrs were: William Robinson, Marmaduke Stephenson, Mary Dyer, and William Leddra.

A postscript at foot of p. 20 is signed : Written in the year 1758. Joseph Bolles. Attributed to John Bolles in Cushing's Anonyms and Whitley's Baptist bibliography, but to Joseph Bolles by Evans and Johnson.
