A practical grammar of the Latin tongue

wherein all the rules are expressed in English, in the method of text and notes ; and thrown into the most agreeable view, for the benefit of learners. The whole established upon rational principles, and classical authorities : with a large explanation of elliptical constructions, and the various uses of the preposition. Directions for construing, parsing, and making Latin ; some hints in chhronology ; a character of the Roman classics ; and a large account of prosody. To which is added a vocabulary , containing, among other things, lists ... of verbs simple, and compound ; irregular in formation ... of deponents, and supines. Collected from those very learned masters Sanctius cum Perizon, Mess. de Port Royal ... Drawn up at first to serve a private occasion, and now made public, as a testimony of respect to the British youth.

2d ed., enlarged more than two thirds ; and furnished with proper indexes.
