First Sentence
"The "Japanese" in 30,000 B.P. I would like to begin by examining a remark which, it seems to me, epitomizes the attitude to the identity of the Japanese taken for granted by a majority of the middle Japanese, meaning those who are neither Ainu nor Okinawan (cf. Hanazaki 1996) and those who feel comfortable with the image of the singularity, homogeneity, and purity of the Japanese."
