"SOLOMON ben Yehudah Ibh Gebirol, of Cordova, called by the Jews, Solomon the Sephardi, i. e., Spaniard, the Hymnologist, and by acrostic from the initials of his name, Ra S H Ba G.; by the Arabs, Abu Ayyub Suleiman ben-Ya'hya Ibn Djebirol, and by the scholastics, Avicebrol, Avicebron, Avicembron, etc., was born at Malaga about 1021, educated at Saragosa, and died at Valencia, 1070."
