Book Details

First Sentence

"The study of what came to be called Kac-Moody algebras began in 1967, with the work of V.G. Kac [l], R.V. Moody [Reprinted Paper #l] and I.L. Kantor [2], about the same time that the seeds of string theory (for an account see réf. [3]), with which its development has been intertwined, were sown in the study of the "duality" of different descriptions of the strong interactions of elementary particles."
