By the time she was sixteen, Terry Adams was keeping house and cooking for the family. She'd grown up without a mother, so she and her older sister, Linda, had taken care of their father. And he'd taken wonderful care of them.
Then, just before Terry's senior year, her father's company offered to send him to Saudi Arabia. Terry convinced him that she and Linda, a young widow with a baby, would be fine on their own. She didn't want him to miss such a great opportunity, and it was only for a year.
But once school started, things began to go wrong. Terry and her best friend were fighting. The new counselor at school was prying into Terry's life. And, worst of all, Linda had taken to drinking and staying out late at night.
