Doleh is an Indian girl who is half Navajo and half of the mesa. Her mother and father are dead and she lives with her crippled grandfather on the mesa. Black Fox threatens them with taking away their home. And her friend the white trader is being driven out by Black Fox as well. Doleh hears, sees and does things that help her save her home, the white trader and help Black Fox become a better person
